The story of BLUSENA begins in 1998, when the Richter family made a bold decision: leaving Germany to build a new life and a new business in Southern Brazil.
With over 16 years of experience as seafarers, Mr. Manfred Richter and Mrs. Petra Richter knew the maritime world deeply — its challenges, its pace, and its needs. That knowledge became the foundation of what BLUSENA would become.
Arriving in Brazil, they identified a clear opportunity in the growing shipping sector of the region.
Still in 1998, they founded BLUSENA – Blumenau Service de Navios, combining German standards of organization and quality with the operational demands of South Brazilian ports. Within the first years, BLUSENA earned the trust of shipowners and shipping companies, supplying Provisions, Bonded Stores, and Cabin Stores to vessels across the region.
Growth came quickly.
What started in a modest 400 m² facility expanded to over 3,000 m², driven by hard work, reliability, and a commitment to excellence.
Over time, the second generation — their son, Marc Richter — joined the management team, strengthening the company’s long-term vision and bringing innovation to daily operations.
In 2017, BLUSENA evolved beyond traditional ship supply.
The company expanded its portfolio to include full Owners Protecting Agency (OPA) services at the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina, ensuring transparent representation and safe operations for shipowners.
Soon after, BLUSENA introduced a complete logistics chain for ship spare parts and stores — from customs clearance to Door-to-Door delivery, including shipments by container and airfreight, now serving all Brazilian ports.
Today, BLUSENA is recognized as a reliable, family-owned company built on integrity, commitment, and a deep understanding of maritime operations.
